Role Overview
This senior leadership position is intended for a seasoned program management expert who can advance enterprise delivery functions within a multifaceted life sciences context. The role focuses on shaping next-generation program management by introducing contemporary operational models, leveraging AI-driven tools, and establishing scalable execution frameworks. The selected leader will collaborate with high-level innovation executives to steer strategic projects, align resources effectively, and achieve quantifiable business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic program management advisor to innovation leaders by providing operational insight and a cohesive perspective across complex initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a program management team by defining standards, enhancing capabilities, and ensuring effective portfolio execution.
- Oversee full delivery of strategic and financial goals, ensuring priorities, resources, and schedules are aligned and executed efficiently.
- Advance program management methodologies by implementing AI-enabled solutions, automation, and innovative ways of working.
- Develop and continuously refine governance models, operational frameworks, decision-making processes, and collaboration methods.
- Work alongside operational excellence teams to enhance organizational effectiveness and establish sustainable working practices.
- Convert scientific findings, clinical knowledge, and technology strategies into executable business plans for senior leadership.
- Manage cross-functional and transformational programs within complex, ambiguous settings.
- Align efforts across internal teams, operational groups, external partners, and vendors to ensure accountability and successful delivery.
- Recognize risks, opportunities, and changing priorities, while ensuring clear communication and mitigation approaches.
- Champion ongoing improvements in program management tools, techniques, and processes throughout the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in life sciences preferred, or bachelor’s in a scientific field plus substantial relevant experience.
- Over 12 years of escalating responsibility in program or portfolio management, operations, or delivery within life sciences, diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- At least 5 years of experience leading and developing program management teams or equivalent.
- Documented success in implementing operating models, governance frameworks, and continuous process improvement initiatives at scale.
- Proficiency in applying AI, automation, and digital technologies to enhance program management and operational workflows.
- Ability to translate scientific, clinical, or technical concepts into strategic business decisions and commercialization priorities.
- Track record managing complex, cross-functional programs within matrix organizations and with outside partnerships.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing competing demands, and driving execution in dynamic innovation environments.
- Experience with continuous improvement or operational excellence methods is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20-30% for leadership meetings, governance forums, and similar events.
