Role Overview

The Senior Engineer in Systems specializing in Board Support Packages (BSP) will provide expert technical leadership for the design, development, and maintenance of BSP modules and configurations. This role involves independent hardware enablement, onboarding new platform support, and mentoring junior engineers in BSP-related development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize BSP components and configurations to ensure high quality and compatibility.
• Enable new hardware platforms and processors including hardware bring-up and validation activities.
• Produce clean, maintainable code adhering to team standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex BSP-related technical issues.
• Lead technical reviews, design decisions, and improvement initiatives.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers in BSP development and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies including US, Romania, and India.
• Manage documentation and contribute to process enhancements within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Interface with hardware partners and vendors to coordinate hardware enablement efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in software engineering with at least 3 years focused on embedded systems and hardware.
• Expertise in C/C++ programming within Linux environments.
• In-depth understanding of embedded systems, board support packages, device trees, hardware abstraction layers, and bootloaders like U-Boot.
• Hands-on experience with build systems such as Yocto or Buildroot.
• Strong debugging capabilities and experience with version control tools like Git.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile and Scrum.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Yocto Project for embedded Linux development.
• Experience in hardware bring-up, validation, and device driver development.
• Understanding of diverse processor architectures including ARM and x86.
• Contributions to open source projects and prior exposure to automotive, aerospace, or industrial sectors are a plus.
