Senior Software Engineer – Infrastructure, DevOps, SecOps, Automation & DBA

Role overview

AxiaMetrics is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen enterprise infrastructure, DevOps, security operations, automation, and Oracle database administration capabilities. This role is based in Doha, Qatar, with an onsite presence expected for most of the time (about 80%). Applications from candidates across EMEA and the Americas are welcomed.

The position calls for 8–10+ years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The work will focus on improving reliability, security, automation, and availability in a telecom or similarly regulated enterprise setting.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and support Oracle DBX infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Take ownership of Linux servers, virtualisation stacks, cloud platforms, and Oracle database administration tasks.
• Build infrastructure-as-code, automation, and CI/CD workflows using standard industry tools.
• Embed security checks and controls into delivery pipelines and day-to-day operations as part of DevSecOps practices.
• Administer Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, database cloning, and tuning activities.
• Observe, diagnose, and improve the performance of infrastructure, applications, databases, networks, and security tooling.
• Help maintain business-critical, highly available systems and contribute to incident, problem, and change processes.
• Create automation scripts and operational utilities that raise efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
• Document technical solutions, write root-cause analyses, and maintain infrastructure standards.

Required technical strengths

• Hands-on Oracle DBX application database installation, setup, and administration.
• Practical experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, replication, backup/recovery, cloning, and performance troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux administration capability, especially across Oracle Linux 7/8/9/10, including hardening, patching, and issue resolution.
• Working knowledge of virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), and Oracle VM.
• Experience with cloud and hybrid environments, with OCI preferred.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps ecosystems including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Harbor, Artifactory, and SonarQube.
• Ability to implement infrastructure as code with Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
• Container and orchestration experience with Docker, Podman, CRI-O, and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting capability in Bash and Python; Perl and Groovy are an added advantage.
• Exposure to enterprise networking, storage, monitoring, and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Knowledge of security controls including EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, certificate management, segmentation, and patching.

Preferred background

• Experience in telecommunications or other tightly regulated enterprise environments.
• Exposure to DevSecOps and security-by-design approaches.
• Working knowledge of ITIL-aligned operations and governance frameworks.
• Experience administering and monitoring Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
