About the Role

This position involves efficiently transporting freight within and between FedEx facilities using non-articulated vehicles. Responsibilities include loading and unloading company vehicles and containers, scanning and sorting packages, ensuring package security and safety, and performing minor vehicle maintenance. Compliance with government regulations and company policies is essential.

Primary Duties

• Operate shuttle vehicles to transport freight safely between locations.
• Load and unload packages, auditing their size and weight as needed.
• Sort packages by service type and destination according to procedures.
• Scan packages with computerized tracking systems for accurate documentation.
• Uphold security of FedEx property and customer shipments.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and perform minor maintenance tasks.
• Conduct vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections and adhere to temperature control standards where applicable.
• Adhere to local airport authority regulations and company procedures.
• Occasionally handle emergency pickups and deliveries (up to 10% of work time).

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs with assistance or equipment.
• Good interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with FedEx Express Canada operations and Canadian customs regulations is advantageous.
• Ability to perform temperature control troubleshooting and maintain cargo area conditions when required.
• Completion of all basic and recurrent training, including in a Windows PC environment.
• For candidates located in Quebec, bilingual proficiency in French and English is mandatory.

Additional Information

• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 shifts of 8 hours each (5x8).
• This is a permanent full-time (PFT) position based in Kenora.
• Applicants must have two or fewer driving violations or accidents in the last 24 months.
