About the role
This contract opportunity is for software engineers who want to help improve how AI systems write and understand code. In this role, you will create solutions, assess machine-generated code, and give detailed technical feedback that helps make AI coding tools more accurate, dependable, and safe.
The work is fully remote and flexible, allowing you to contribute from the location and schedule that suits you best. It is hands-on engineering work focused on real coding, careful review, and clear explanation of technical decisions.
The role is based in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, but is remote. The arrangement is an hourly contract with a weekly commitment of 10 to 40 hours.
What you will do
- Develop, troubleshoot, and improve code across different languages, frameworks, and technical problem types.
- Assess AI-produced code for accuracy, efficiency, readability, and alignment with good engineering practice.
- Spot defects, flawed logic, security weaknesses, and performance issues in generated code.
- Write structured feedback that clearly explains why a solution is effective or where it falls short.
- Create demanding coding prompts and edge-case scenarios to test AI capabilities thoroughly.
- Review several AI-generated answers and rank them based on engineering quality.
- Work independently and asynchronously, managing your own time and output.
Who should apply
- You should be comfortable programming in one or more languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript, or similar.
- You need a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and core software design principles.
- You must be able to read, write, and reason about code with accuracy and clarity.
- You should have a disciplined approach to debugging and problem-solving.
- You should be able to explain technical ideas clearly in writing and in plain language.
- You need to be self-directed, dependable, and effective without close supervision.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent practical experience is also acceptable.
Nice to have
- Experience working across several languages or technical stacks, including full-stack, backend, systems, or data engineering.
- Exposure to AI/ML fundamentals, large language models, or prompt design.
- Prior experience in code review, technical writing, or mentoring junior engineers.
- Familiarity with cloud services, DevOps practices, or distributed systems.
- Evidence of strong craftsmanship through competitive programming, open-source work, or personal projects.
- An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related area.
Why join
- Contribute to advanced AI initiatives alongside leading research teams.
- Enjoy a remote setup with flexible scheduling and location independence.
- Benefit from freelance-style autonomy while doing meaningful, challenging work.
- Shape how AI systems generate, interpret, and reason about code.
- Strengthen your own engineering skills by reviewing a wide variety of problems.
- There is potential for continued work and contract extension as new projects become available.
