Role Overview

The Technical Support Officer plays a crucial role in providing both technical and administrative assistance that supports the delivery of engineering, infrastructure, and road reserve services to the community. Reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering Design & Technical Services, the position supports various engineering and operational teams located at Council’s Civic Centre and Alan Turner Depot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive administrative and business support including managing purchase orders, recording meeting minutes, overseeing equipment and uniform inventory, and tracking critical tasks and deadlines within the Engineering Design & Technical Services Division.
  • Manage road reserve permits and approvals, handle customer enquiries by processing applications, keeping registers up to date, coordinating inspections, and preparing necessary correspondence.
  • Assist in traffic and infrastructure project execution by liaising with customers and residents, managing documentation, updating Traffic Live, and supporting procurement activities.
  • Support asset management by processing engineering drawings, Work As Executed (WAE) plans, and other relevant asset-related documents.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders to maintain excellent customer service and foster continual improvements in engineering business processes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration or similar relevant qualifications.
  • Possession of a valid Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Experience delivering technical and administrative support within an engineering, infrastructure, or comparable technical environment.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage competing priorities and maintain precise records.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to build positive relationships across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and capability to utilize business software such as TechOne, P&R, and DOCUMAP.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail.
