Role Overview
Binary Defense is looking for a skilled Tier 2 SOC Analyst to join a client’s Security Operations team. This position demands a hands-on, client-facing approach focusing on enhancing detection strategies, tuning alert rules, developing cross-team feedback mechanisms, and leading remediation efforts related to attack surface reduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop internal alerting strategies and document processes for identifying and prioritizing alerts by threat severity, concentrating on coverage gaps.
- Analyze noisy alerts to reduce alert fatigue by fine-tuning detection systems.
- Evaluate alerts that have not yet triggered for potential improvements in detection logic.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client and MDR Provider’s Detection team.
- Collaborate with the client’s Incident Response team to establish feedback loops, distinguishing true positives from false positives.
- Generate routine reports summarizing detection creation and rule adjustments.
- Support development of a proprietary "Signal to Noise ratio" metric for detection efficacy.
- Coordinate with MDR Threat Hunting team on implementation of SentinelOne STAR rules.
- Map security detections to recognized frameworks such as the Cyber Kill Chain.
- Partner with MDR provider to continuously optimize on-call alert criteria.
- Manage attack surface reduction initiatives including change management, cross-functional coordination, and communications related to security remediation.
- Prioritize vulnerabilities, assist patch teams with root cause analysis, and track remediation progress via ticketing and reporting.
- Review stale accounts and administrative privileges, recommending and applying improvements to strengthen security.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Security Operations or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with SIEM and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools.
- Experience correlating detections with standard frameworks and risk mitigation models.
- Understanding of current attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
