Associate Software Engineer

About the Role

Confluxsys is looking to add motivated Associate Software Engineers to their Product Engineering team. This role involves a blend of hands-on software development and quality assurance to contribute towards building and maintaining Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions through their LastMile ID platform. Initially, new team members will focus on learning the product, performing functional and API testing, issue reproduction, and validating fixes. Over time, they will progressively take on greater responsibilities in backend and frontend development while still supporting product quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and product features primarily using Python or Node.js.
• Create and improve responsive UI components leveraging JavaScript and React frameworks.
• Design, implement, integrate, and debug RESTful APIs.
• Work with relational databases, crafting optimized SQL queries.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and testable code including unit and integration tests.
• Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, product demos, and deployment activities.
• Investigate and fix bugs spanning frontend, backend, API, and database areas.
• Translate product requirements into comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
• Conduct functional, integration, API, regression, and exploratory testing to ensure product quality.
• Validate new features, bug resolutions, upgrades, and release candidates thoroughly.
• Document, prioritize, and track defects with clear steps for reproduction.
• Use API testing tools such as Postman for troubleshooting and testing.
• Contribute to test automation efforts using suitable frameworks in Python or JavaScript.
• Share collective responsibility for the product's reliability, usability, security, and successful releases.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 0 to 3 years’ experience in software development, product engineering, quality assurance, or test automation; strong fresh graduates are encouraged.
• Proficiency in at least one backend development language: Python or Node.js.
• Working capabilities with JavaScript and React.js.
• Understanding of REST API fundamentals including HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON data.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL querying.
• Familiarity with software development principles, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• Basic awareness of software testing methodologies and defect lifecycle.
• Experience with source control tools like Git.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving aptitudes.
• Effective communication skills with attention to detail and eagerness to learn.

Preferred Expertise

• Exposure or knowledge in Identity and Access Management, identity governance, authentication, or authorization mechanisms.
• Understanding of security and identity protocols like OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, Single Sign-On, and Role-Based Access Control.
• Experience using API testing utilities such as Postman and test automation frameworks like pytest, Jest, Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, Docker containers, cloud platforms, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Project experience from internships, academic work, open-source contributions, or personal software endeavors.

Educational Background

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field is preferable. Candidates with other educational qualifications who demonstrate strong programming skills and relevant project experience may also be considered.
