Caretaker

Position Overview

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join the team at Wheelers Lane Primary School in Birmingham, B13 0SF. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week. The role includes working an 8-hour rotating shift within 6am to 6pm. The annual salary offered is £26,728.21, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee caretaking duties and premises upkeep within the school.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with school personnel and community groups.
• Ensure all services are delivered to a high standard following Project Agreement requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in facilities management, including litter control and basic building systems maintenance (essential).
• Competence in producing risk assessments and method statements (essential).
• Previous caretaking or premises management experience, ideally in an educational environment (desirable).

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation (essential).
• Good organisational and prioritisation abilities to meet deadlines effectively (essential).
• Experience acting as a key holder with responsibility for site access (essential).

Education

• GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and English (desirable).
• Relevant trade or vocational qualification (desirable).

• Physically able to perform caretaking tasks (essential).
• Self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision (essential).
• Collaborative team player, willing to share expertise (essential).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills (essential).
