Chairman Surgery

Position Summary

The Chairman of Surgery leads the Surgery Department in alignment with the hospital’s overall vision, mission, and strategic goals. This role encompasses both clinical responsibilities as a consultant surgeon and comprehensive administrative oversight of the department.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must have graduated from a recognized medical school with completion of all requisite training periods.
• Possess specialty and sub-specialty board certification, including fellowship membership from the United Kingdom, Canada, or an equivalent accreditation.
• If applicable, sub-specialty training and certification are mandatory.
• At least ten years of independent clinical experience after residency and fellowship training (post-board certification or equivalent).
• A minimum of five years in senior leadership roles such as Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Head of Section, or Head of Medical Service.
• Demonstrated contribution to research evidenced by at least ten original peer-reviewed articles published in indexed medical journals. The expected number of publications may vary based on specialty and committee judgment.
• Strong academic and teaching background is essential, with preference given to candidates holding academic appointments at reputable universities.
