Chat Product Manager

Position Overview

Zoom Chat seeks an experienced Senior Product Manager to take full ownership of the central messaging platform. This role focuses on improving both direct messaging and channel interactions, making them more straightforward, user-friendly, and essential for asynchronous work collaboration. The position requires close collaboration with Design, Engineering, and Data Science to integrate intelligent, AI-driven functionalities into everyday messaging, impacting millions of users globally.

Team Context

The Zoom Chat Product Team is dedicated to increasing user adoption, daily engagement, and sustained growth by delivering seamless, integrated, and valuable communication experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire lifecycle of the core messaging product, including setting strategy, gathering requirements, influencing design, overseeing implementation, and iterating after launch.
• Develop and execute the product roadmap to enhance core chat features and meet evolving user communication expectations, addressing gaps discovered through competitive and user research.
• Work closely with Design teams to refine interaction details, information architecture, and visual design, offering precise and actionable feedback beyond just requirement specifications.
• Identify opportunities to incorporate AI-powered capabilities into messaging workflows, leveraging prior experience in delivering AI-driven product features.
• Analyze customer feedback, support insights, and research data to translate into clear product requirements and prioritize accordingly.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Design, and Research teams to scope, schedule, and deliver features within committed timelines.
• Communicate progress, roadmap plans, and tradeoffs effectively to stakeholders across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
• Ensure a consistent user experience across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of product management experience with demonstrated responsibility for full ownership of a product or major product area.
• Proven track record in shipping AI-driven product features, capable of articulating product decisions related to AI implementations.
• Strong UI/UX expertise, comfortable collaborating closely with Design on interaction details beyond requirements documentation.
• Experience working on messaging, collaboration, or communication products.
• Skill in using competitor analysis and user research to identify and address experience gaps against leading industry products.
• Adaptable schedule to support global collaboration including early morning or evening meetings as needed.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate tradeoffs to engineering teams and executives.
• Proficiency with common product management tools for roadmap planning, specification writing, and prioritization.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role lies between $146,700 and $339,300 annually. Zoom follows a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that includes base pay, bonuses, and equity. Initial salary will reflect qualifications and experience, with different compensation bands based on location.
