Job description

Role Overview

As a Client Director at Capgemini, you will spearhead efforts to secure major public sector transformation projects in New Zealand, concentrating on large-scale national programs such as ERP, digital, data, and business transformations. This senior leadership position requires a strong ability to establish trusted relationships at the CxO level, influence complex client procurement processes, and manage multi-year sales strategies to position Capgemini as a preferred strategic partner.

Key Duties

  • Lead high-level sales strategies for large, intricate transformation programs within New Zealand's public sector, covering areas like ERP, digital services, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, business change, and managed services.
  • Develop and maintain trusted connections with senior executives including CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, CDOs, and other key decision-makers to align with strategic priorities and guide procurement ethically and effectively.
  • Oversee complex sales pursuits by managing early market positioning, account strategies, stakeholder analysis, win themes, competition evaluation, partnering approaches, commercial planning, and bid processes for long-term projects.
  • Effectively navigate both formal and informal decision-making channels to build consensus among business and technology stakeholders, presenting transformation proposals that emphasize public value and measurable results.
  • Coordinate Capgemini’s internal resources including leadership, industry experts, solution architects, delivery teams, global business units, alliance partners, and executives to support priority pursuits with appropriate focus and investment.
  • Maintain an active and reliable pipeline of qualified strategic public sector opportunities, ensuring governance, risk oversight, commercial discipline, and accountability to hit aggressive growth objectives.
  • Enhance Capgemini’s reputation as a trusted transformation advisor in New Zealand by providing insights into public sector reforms, ERP modernization, digital government initiatives, sovereign capability building, AI, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience leading senior sales, client partnership, account management, or business development in professional services, technology consulting, or systems integration, especially within public sector transformation programs.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence CxO-level public sector clients, fostering trusted advisory relationships and guiding strategic procurement decisions before official tenders.
  • Expertise in managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales campaigns with extended timelines, competitive positioning, formal RFP procedures, governance, commercial negotiation, and executive sponsorship.
  • Track record of winning or strongly influencing major transformation projects related to ERP modernization, digital government, cloud, data, cybersecurity, business transformation, or critical platforms.
  • Deep understanding of public sector operating environments, including government decision-making, procurement norms, compliance expectations, budgeting processes, risk management, and delivering public value outcomes.
  • Exceptional skills in mobilizing and aligning cross-functional teams within a matrix organization, securing collaboration from delivery, solution design, commercial, legal, alliance, regional, and global stakeholders.
  • Strong executive presence, commercial acumen, and resilience to engage credibly with senior clients, partners, and company leadership in high-stakes engagements.
  • Excellent communication abilities with experience crafting persuasive sales narratives, executive briefings, proposals, win strategies, and board-level presentations.

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote work and flexible hours, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive career growth initiatives and diverse professional opportunities tailored to support leadership development.
  • Focused leadership development programs designed to nurture expertise aligned with your senior role.
  • An inclusive, safe working environment encouraging authenticity and supported by employee-led community groups.
