Junior Computer Software Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a Junior Computer Software Engineer to join our Database & Storage Infrastructure team located in Singapore. This role involves supporting and enhancing our distributed database and storage platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, research, and develop computer and network software, including specialized utilities to manage large-scale database and storage systems.
• Analyze user needs and system requirements to formulate software solutions using principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Maintain and upgrade existing software by improving functionalities and leading software testing and validation processes for database and storage services.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with hardware components and contribute to defining performance specifications.
• Create tools and automation for monitoring system health, capacity planning, backups, and incident response procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotations and address production incidents promptly.

Candidate Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Programming & Systems Analysis, Computer Studies, or Software Engineering.
• Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, database concepts, and computer architecture.
• Basic understanding of core database concepts such as indexing, transactions, ACID properties, MVCC, Raft consensus algorithm, sharding, CAP theorem, and high availability setups.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, or Rust.
• Fluency in both Mandarin and English to effectively coordinate with stakeholders and teams across regional markets.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and networking technologies is an advantage.
• Experience with database technologies like MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, HDFS, and HBase is preferred.
