Role Description

The Cost Engineer / Quantity Surveyor role is a full-time, on-site position located in Abu Dhabi. The key duties include preparing and scrutinizing cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction initiatives, ensuring precision and timeliness in reporting. The incumbent will supervise project expenditures, monitor variations, and perform cost analyses to assist informed decision-making and uphold budget discipline. Collaboration with project managers, engineers, and procurement personnel is essential. Additional responsibilities involve evaluating contractor claims, aiding in the preparation and review of tenders, maintaining meticulous cost records, supporting value engineering projects, and contributing to financial forecasts for projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree mandatory in Civil Engineering, Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, or Project Management from a recognized university.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity, ideally within a General Contracting or EPC firm focused on industrial or infrastructure projects within the UAE.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cost estimation techniques, bill of quantity preparation, unit rate setting, and productivity standards relative to contracting sectors.
• Demonstrated capability in budget planning and subcontractor financial management, including analysis of market rates and verification of completed work volumes.
• Experience with tendering, procurement, contract evaluation, and contract administration, particularly familiarity with FIDIC-based contracts.
• High proficiency in MS Excel (advanced skills including pivot tables and cost analysis), AutoCAD (for reviewing drawings and quantity take-offs), with experience in cost-control software considered favorable.
• Strong analytical acumen and reporting ability, with effective communication skills across technical, financial, and management teams.
• Fluent English language skills at an Upper-Intermediate level or above.
