Data Project Manager (Data PM)

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Data Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of data and analytics projects. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, budgets, and ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives involving Google Cloud Platform data technologies and advanced AI methodologies including Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Large Language Models.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and close data projects including defining scopes, allocating resources, and managing end-to-end delivery.
• Establish project schedules, milestones, and success metrics, maintaining adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Estimate efforts required for data engineering, analytics, AI, and platform-related tasks to facilitate precise planning.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to align technical scopes with business goals.
• Serve as the primary communication bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and changes while regularly updating stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Lead and coordinate teams comprising Data Engineers, Analysts, Scientists, ML Engineers, and Architects.
• Remove obstacles, guide technical discussions, and ensure timely decisions to maintain project momentum.
• Review technical designs and deliverables to confirm quality and architectural compliance.
• Drive Agile methodologies, facilitating sprint planning, prioritization, stand-ups, retrospectives, and releases.
• Work closely with engineering to deliver data pipelines and AI/ML solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Support the deployment of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and LLM-based solutions by aligning technical and business requirements.
• Track project KPIs, resource use, and delivery outcomes to improve execution and team results.
• Prepare executive reports, presentations, dashboards, and governance documentation for leadership.
• Ensure all projects comply with company governance, security, and data management standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience managing complete data, analytics, or AI projects.
• In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud Platform data services and modern cloud data architecture.
• Experience with data engineering, ETL, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.
• Understanding of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Large Language Model technologies and their business applications.
• Strong skills in project planning, risk assessment, effort estimation, and stakeholder communication.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent communication, presentation skills and leadership capabilities.
• Familiarity with project management software such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or Agile.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI, and Cloud Composer.
