Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Designer to join our Product team. This position requires someone commercially savvy and trend-oriented, capable of thriving in a dynamic fashion retail atmosphere. The role involves designing and developing collections that connect with our customers, balancing creativity with market relevance and profitability. Collaboration with Product Developers, Buyers, Suppliers, and Supply Chain teams is essential from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver collections aligning with Open-To-Buy (OTB) and buying strategies.
• Create trend-responsive product ranges for both Northern and Southern Hemisphere markets, synthesizing quarterly trends and customer data.
• Monitor fashion trends, competitive moves, and global market dynamics to identify new product opportunities.
• Collaborate with Creative and Buying teams to develop trend boards, seasonal concepts, and category strategies.
• Participate in fit sessions providing technical guidance to ensure proper garment fit, quality, and design integrity.
• Prepare detailed technical sketches, specifications, and tech packs to streamline product development.
• Coordinate with Design Manager and Graphic Designer to develop placement graphics, embroidery, prints, and artwork.
• Work with Product Developers and Suppliers to ensure designs meet quality, margin targets, and deadlines.
• Build and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Regularly discover new fabrics, washes, trims, and styling details suited to the Princess Polly customer.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-achieving workplace culture.

Success Metrics

• Deliver styles from concept to factory ready status within 8 weeks, requiring no more than two samples.
• Design and tech-pack approximately 15 styles weekly across multiple categories, maintaining quality and margin standards.
• Consistently meet company metrics related to style successes and failures.
• Create commercially successful collections that enhance sales, profit, and customer engagement.
• Maintain high accuracy and detail orientation throughout design and development phases.
• Contribute proactively to a solution-oriented, innovative, and high-performance team environment.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in a fashion designer role within a fast-paced retail or supplier setting.
• Experience designing graphic tees, fleece, or fashion graphics is a plus but not required.
• Proven expertise in creating commercially viable, trend-focused product ranges.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, pattern making, grading, and production processes.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite—especially Illustrator—and Excel, along with industry-standard design software.
• Ability to produce accurate, detailed tech packs with strong technical competence.
• Excellent skills in trend forecasting, market research, and commercial application.
• In-depth understanding of fabrics, washes, trims, and other raw materials.
• Strong analytical capabilities with confidence in leveraging sales and performance data to guide design decisions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills enabling influence across teams and suppliers.
• Highly organized, detail-focused, and adept at prioritizing tasks in a fast-moving work environment.
• A positive, proactive mindset with a genuine passion for fashion and product development.
