About RealCraft
RealCraft is a manufacturer specializing in crafting premium solid wood doors and hardware, located in Gig Harbor, Washington. All products are handmade using traditional joinery techniques and solid wood materials, serving architects, designers, and homeowners throughout the United States.
Role Overview
The Entry Level Woodworker position involves transforming raw lumber through initial cutting and milling processes to components like legs, rails, panels, and jambs, which are then crafted into finished doors by skilled artisans. This role requires physical stamina, a willingness to learn, and commitment to acquiring true woodworking skills rather than simply earning wages.
Responsibilities
- Cut wood for various door components such as legs, rails, panels, window stickings, posts, jambs, and headers.
- Perform rough cutting of raw material followed by precise milling to achieve finished dimensions.
- Laminate components to the required thickness and participate in building barn doors, including glue-ups.
- Manage unloading of deliveries, organizing lumber inventory, handling waste bins, and swapping out saw blades as needed.
- Assimilate RealCraft’s operational procedures and exhibit flexibility to assist in different areas when requested by management.
Qualifications
- Possess a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical capability to stand throughout the shift, lift heavy items up to 75 pounds, and move lumber efficiently.
- Experience with woodworking equipment such as table saws, chop saws, or planers is beneficial but not essential.
- Minimum education of high school diploma or GED.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage between $20 to $23 with consistent Monday through Friday daytime hours.
- Health benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, with the company covering 80% of medical premiums.
- Participation in a Simple IRA retirement plan featuring a 3% company match after six months of employment.
- Paid time off beginning on day one, paid holidays, and additional leave during the Christmas period.
- Additional perks such as work boot allowances, referral bonuses, and reimbursement of bridge tolls for commuters crossing the Narrows.
Working Environment
This full-time position is based onsite in Gig Harbor. The nature of the work is physically demanding with long periods on feet and regular lifting of materials up to 75 pounds.
Application Instructions
Applicants are encouraged to submit a resume along with a brief introduction about themselves. No prior woodworking experience is required; candidates must demonstrate strong work ethics and a genuine interest in developing woodworking craftsmanship.
