About the Role
The Fabrication Planner will report directly to the Operations Engineering Manager based in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This position involves comprehensive planning tasks for prefab and shop components that align with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement planning strategies for prefab and shop components adhering to project needs.
- Assist the time office to collect actual manhour data spent within the fabrication yard.
- Plan and monitor workstation-wise progress and productivity for components under fabrication.
- Communicate schedule sensitivities, potential risks, and critical path impacts promptly to stakeholders, project planners, and yard planning leads.
- Maintain an integrated fabrication plan ensuring all booked works align with shop capacity, and contribute to resolving issues and mitigation strategies.
- Create tools to monitor productivity at the workstation level and by component.
- Ensure timely delivery of shop planning outputs including weekly prefab shop reports, 12-week lookaheads, and manpower forecasts.
- Issue periodic workload reports for machines relative to capacity, and conduct regular planning and forecasting meetings.
- Collaborate with project PMT and planners to comprehend project schedules, forecasting potential delays relative to project requirements.
- Lead or participate in bi-weekly shop planning review meetings coordinating with engineers and supervisors on progress and forecasts.
- Develop KPI monitoring tools for shop activities and distribute weekly updates.
- Identify and report critical issues related to the prefab shop.
- Support the overall yard planning function in coordination with planning leads and yard project planners.
- Engage in weekly layout meetings contributing insights on shop components and scheduling forecasts.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Degree or diploma in Engineering—B.Sc., B.E., or B.Tech preferred.
- Minimum of six years relevant experience in fabrication planning, preferably with onshore and offshore fabrication exposure.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Primavera and Excel for planning activities.
- Strong leadership capabilities in fabrication planning.
