Role summary

This is a part-time, remote Finance Manager position based in Canada. The selected professional will be responsible for financial planning and analysis across the firm and certain portfolio companies. The role centers on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cash flow oversight, and accurate financial reporting.

What the role involves

• Prepare, review, and maintain financial statements with accuracy and consistency.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting activities.
• Monitor cash flow and support timely financial reporting.
• Assist with investment analysis and portfolio performance monitoring.
• Partner with firm leadership on financial due diligence for investments.
• Help strengthen internal controls and support compliance with applicable regulations.
• Recommend process changes that improve efficiency in financial operations.

Qualifications and experience

• Solid experience in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Strong background in accounting and reporting, including statement preparation, reconciliations, and working knowledge of GAAP or comparable standards.
• Ability to assess investments and portfolio performance using cash flow, return metrics, and related indicators.
• Comfort using spreadsheets, financial systems, and data visualization tools.
• Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and careful attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance audiences.
• Capability to work independently in a remote setup while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience in venture capital, private equity, or fast-growing startups is an advantage.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Professional credentials such as CPA or CFA are considered a plus.
