About the Role
This leadership role demands full responsibility for the safety, upkeep, repair, and replacement of mechanical plant equipment and systems. The goal is to optimize production volume and quality while aligning with company policies and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage the execution of a comprehensive maintenance strategy that meets organizational objectives.
- Contribute to objective setting, strategic planning, and periodic evaluation of plant operational performance.
- Develop, implement, and oversee maintenance programs focusing on planning, scheduling, preventive, and predictive maintenance, drawing on industry best practices.
- Ensure maintenance team members are well-trained, appropriately resourced, and motivated to execute maintenance programs safely, efficiently, and within budget.
- Continuously monitor plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, proactively address issues, and identify improvement areas.
- Supervise maintenance activities on current plant facilities and equipment, including necessary replacements and adjustments.
- Implement cost-efficient controls for capital budgeting, operating expenses, and manpower; initiate projects that enhance efficiency or reduce costs.
- Analyze and enhance core maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance expenses, and adherence to schedules.
- Lead and enforce safety programs within the maintenance department, reviewing safety records to maintain high safety standards for all personnel.
- Collaborate with the operations team to synchronize maintenance and repair tasks in operational areas.
- Set up and manage a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track work orders, spare parts, and maintenance histories.
- Uphold safety regulations and mechanical maintenance standards across the plant at all times.
- Provide leadership, training, and professional development opportunities for maintenance staff.
- Maintain and update operational and training documentation for the mechanical department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Plant Director (Operations & Maintenance).
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 20 years of experience in repair and maintenance within cement manufacturing equipment contexts.
