Position Overview
Join Vancouver Coastal Health as a Housekeeping Aide at Sechelt Hospital, BC. Key Responsibilities
The Housekeeping Aide undertakes diverse cleaning tasks including damp dusting, floor mopping (wet and dry), floor maintenance and refinishing with appropriate equipment, disinfecting ceilings, walls, vents, washrooms, beds, furniture, and equipment. Additional duties involve regular collection and disposal of general and biomedical waste, spill cleanup, bed-making, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness adhering to organizational standards and protocols.
Environmental Services Context
Environmental Services extends beyond traditional janitorial functions, collaborating with hospital staff to maintain safety through medical-grade cleaning and disinfecting. The team works closely with infection control and patient care units, ensuring cleanliness in clinical and non-clinical spaces such as patient rooms, offices, washrooms, and common areas. Tasks also include garbage removal, linen handling, vacuuming, floor polishing, and disinfecting various surfaces.

Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Physical capability to perform cleaning and related duties.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact well with others and organize work efficiently.
- Competence in operating related cleaning equipment.
