About the Role
This HR consultant position is critical at the interface of HR operations, recruitment, and onboarding within heavy process industries such as manufacturing, metals, cement, chemicals, and FMCG. The role involves handling a mix of high-volume blue-collar workers alongside specialized white-collar employees, maintaining continuous production with zero downtime, and ensuring strict compliance with safety and labor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with plant leadership to forecast hiring needs aligned with production capacity and shift requirements.
- Source blue-collar labor through local vendors, training institutes, contractors, and community outreach while recruiting white-collar technical staff via job portals and industrial networks.
- Coordinate skill assessments, trade tests, physical fitness evaluations, and multi-stage interviews with technical stakeholders including quality assurance and safety teams.
- Design competitive offers following local labor market standards and statutory wage boards.
- Manage onboarding processes ensuring mandatory safety and occupational health training before plant floor access.
- Verify medical clearances, drug screening, and background checks for personnel assigned to high-risk areas.
- Oversee statutory documentation, identity verification, and enrollment in provident fund and insurance schemes, especially for contract workers.
- Conduct plant orientations, introduce new employees to supervisors, assign mentors, and facilitate personal protective equipment distribution.
- Supervise attendance systems including biometric and RFID for large workforce across shifts, ensuring punctuality and compliance.
- Administer overtime tracking, leave management, shift rosters, and absenteeism control on production lines.
- Handle payroll processing inclusive of shift differentials, hazard pay, and related allowances.
- Manage third-party contract labor management systems, validating compliance and contractor payments.
- Maintain labor law compliance, prepare necessary records and documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Address employee grievances promptly, fostering labor harmony and managing relations with unions.
- Ensure welfare facilities such as canteens, transport, rest areas, first-aid stations, and occupational health centers operate efficiently.
