Logistics Specialist

Overview

SLB in Calgary is looking to hire a proactive and detail-focused Logistics Specialist to join their Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will coordinate domestic asset, material, and equipment movements and assist with import/export activities as needed. This position acts as the main logistics liaison for business sectors, ensuring shipments are well-planned, executed efficiently, and comply with corporate and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as primary logistics coordinator supporting internal business line transportation and shipment needs.
• Plan and facilitate shipments by choosing suitable transport modes, routes, and authorized carriers.
• Review transportation requests and service requirements to guarantee timely deliveries at optimized costs.
• Track shipments closely, address operational challenges proactively, and update stakeholders regularly.
• Coordinate operations with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and internal departments to maintain smooth logistics.
• Provide import/export support through shipment planning, documentation verification, and adherence to necessary regulations.
• Maintain precise logistics documentation, update work orders, and ensure compliance with QHSE standards and audit readiness.
• Identify and recommend ways to enhance logistics efficiency, improve carrier performance, and lower costs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related operational roles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel; familiarity with SAP or equivalent logistics software is a plus.
• Good understanding of import/export procedures, freight logistics, and transportation rules preferred.
• Possession of Dangerous Goods certification or experience with regulated materials is advantageous.
• Certifications such as CIFFA, CCS, or similar logistics credentials are beneficial.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Capable of working independently while effectively collaborating across teams and with external partners.
• Legal eligibility to live and work in Canada without sponsorship is required.
