About Tekapo Springs
Tekapo Springs is a top-tier family-oriented destination located near Lake Tekapo at Mount John in New Zealand's South Island. Just a brief stroll from Lake Tekapo village, it offers numerous attractions, including hot pools, day spa, steam rooms, saunas, tubing parks for summer and winter, an international skating rink, stargazing tours, and various seasonal events. The site also hosts a fully licensed café and bar, providing diverse food and beverage services daily from 10am to 8pm, operating 364 days each year.
Role Overview
The Maintenance & Assets Manager position is a permanent, on-site role based in Tekapo Springs. The incumbent will be accountable for ensuring the safe and effective upkeep of all the venue’s facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. Daily responsibilities include planning and overseeing maintenance work, managing preventive maintenance timetables, and ensuring prompt repairs across pools, spa facilities, recreation equipment, and building systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise maintenance staff and contractors.
- Coordinate and execute maintenance plans, including preventive measures.
- Manage maintenance budgets and keep detailed records of performed work and parts used.
- Collaborate with operations, health and safety, and hospitality teams to reduce downtime and enhance guest satisfaction.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and provide hands-on involvement in maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven leadership abilities in maintenance management to lead teams and assign resources efficiently.
- Proficiency in equipment maintenance, diagnosing faults, and performing mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned failures.
- Relevant trade qualification, engineering, building services background, or equivalent facility maintenance experience highly desirable.
- Understanding of health and safety practices, risk mitigation, and compliance within hospitality, recreational, or aquatic environments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with capacity to respond to emergencies onsite.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software, basic computer literacy, and holding a valid driver's license preferred.
