Maintenance Manager

Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager oversees the daily operations of the maintenance facility responsible for all rolling stock assets. This role ensures maintenance activities comply with the maintenance plan and meet the highest quality standards. The manager supervises both in-house maintenance personnel and contracted service providers, enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures. The position operates on a shift basis, leading a maintenance team and coordinating efforts with depot controllers, operational control, maintenance planners, and the asset reliability team.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for all daily maintenance activities within the General Maintenance Building related to rolling stock.
• Guarantee that all maintenance work is performed to the highest quality standards.
• Manage the rolling stock maintenance team, including scheduling, leave management, and covering absences.
• Plan and coordinate execution of maintenance tasks in collaboration with planners and the operational control center to meet scheduled commitments.
• Deploy maintenance resources effectively to fulfill the maintenance plan, including urgent repairs.
• Maintain accurate records and work orders using the Asset Management System SAP.
• Report on and ensure achievement of departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Ensure compliance with up-to-date rules, policies, processes, and procedures among staff.
• Implement and maintain adequate risk management and control measures.
• Manage, review, and investigate any instances of non-conformance.
• Motivate, mentor, and develop the maintenance workforce.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices.
• Ensure safety responsibilities are fulfilled for self and others.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering field or considerable senior operational and maintenance experience.
• Apprentice training and/or relevant engineering certifications.
• Valid full driving license.

Experience

• Extensive background in railway maintenance and operations.
• Significant management or supervisory experience in operating maintenance facilities.
• Proficient in managing contracted service providers.
• Experience in leading multifunctional and diverse teams.
• Knowledge of quality management and asset management systems.
• Experience working in challenging environmental conditions.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure.
