Position Summary
This entry-level Management Analyst position involves performing administrative and analytical tasks to support a specific division or department. The role includes participating in special projects and providing financial data and analysis. It is designed for individuals with limited related work experience, focusing on more routine assignments within the Management Analyst series.
Essential Duties
- Assist with budget preparation and analysis, including forecasting revenues and expenditures as well as evaluating cost allocation factors.
- Compile detailed technical records and analytical reports relevant to assigned responsibilities; conduct research and gather data to support analysis and deliver statistical information.
- Provide guidance to the assigned department to encourage changes in management approaches.
- Analyze performance data for department operations and document findings appropriately.
- Manage and track necessary information to secure grants and other funding for department programs.
- Support budget management by monitoring funds, controlling expenditures, and preparing financial reports.
- Gather and analyze data from multiple sources about assigned programs; create reports interpreting the data and offer recommendations.
- Conduct special studies on management and organizational systems to assess costs and operational efficiency.
- Participate on various committees and prepare reports for councils, boards, and commissions.
Supplemental Duties
- Engage in professional meetings and remain informed about new legislation and developments impacting the role.
- Plan and contribute to special projects as assigned.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public administration or business administration from an accredited institution.
- At least two years of experience in financial analysis.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain one by hire date.
- Obtain a City Operator's Permit within six months after hiring.
Working Conditions
- Office environment requiring prolonged sitting and computer use.
