Role overview
This position is centered on planning ammunition disposal and managing training ammunition resources in a way that is safe, efficient, and sustainable. The objective is to minimise wastage, prevent disruption to training, and strengthen decision-making through the use of AI, data analytics, and digital tools.
Key responsibilities
- Design annual and multi-year plans, strategies, and improvement initiatives for ammunition disposal.
- Forecast training ammunition needs, manage allocation and utilisation, and refine related processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify and assess new disposal methods, including local and overseas options, as well as enabling technologies.
- Use AI, analytics, and digital tools to enhance forecasting, dashboards, early warning mechanisms, and operational decisions.
- Plan and monitor budgets covering disposal activities, training ammunition support, and capability-building efforts.
- Maintain visibility over risks, expenses, milestones, and overall performance through reports and dashboard tracking.
Challenges in the role
The job requires balancing safety, operational readiness, cost control, and sustainability at the same time while still delivering the expected outcomes. It also involves proactive forecasting, timely intervention, disciplined budget management, collaboration with many stakeholders, and the ability to embed AI and data analytics into day-to-day decision-making.
Requirements
- A background in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Information and Communications Technology, or a closely related discipline is expected.
- Roughly 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in logistics operations, inventory planning, or management of operational resources is preferred.
- The role calls for strong ownership, accuracy, and a careful eye for detail.
- Good written and verbal communication, along with strong interpersonal skills, is important.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement is needed.
- Candidates without prior experience may also be considered.
