Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the conceptualization, design, validation, and continual enhancement of mechanical parts, assemblies, and subsystems supporting both new product development and existing product maintenance. This position operates within defined engineering procedures and standards, collaborating across departments to deliver innovative, dependable, and manufacturable solutions that satisfy quality, regulatory, cost, and performance criteria. The engineer engages actively throughout the product lifecycle to ensure punctual completion of assigned engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, validate, and support mechanical components and systems for both new and sustaining products.
• Use established mechanical engineering principles and design best practices to produce reliable and compliant solutions.
• Engage with cross-disciplinary teams including systems, electrical, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and service to develop technical solutions.
• Contribute through all product development stages: from concept, architecture, detailed design, to prototyping, verification, manufacturing transition, and ongoing support.
• Conduct engineering analyses, calculations, dimensional tolerance assessments, and evaluations to inform design decisions.
• Create and review engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documents adhering to specified standards.
• Plan and execute Verification & Validation activities for components and subsystems to confirm performance, reliability, and regulatory adherence.
• Assist in supplier development, component qualification, manufacturing preparation, and engineering modifications.
• Identify and implement improvements to product quality, manufacturability, reliability, cost efficiency, and design standardization.
• Follow engineering processes and quality systems, ensuring timely delivery of tasks.
• Participate in technical design reviews, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement projects.
• Enhance technical skills through mentoring, training, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, or Tool Design preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, and New Product Introduction.
• Proven ability to design, develop, and prototype mechanical parts and assemblies from concept through production.
• Experience working hands-on with prototypes, testing, design iterations, and verification processes.
• Collaborative experience with suppliers and cross-functional teams on component development and manufacturing readiness.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals including mechanics, strength of materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Competence in preparing and reviewing technical drawings and documentation aligned with engineering standards.
• Experience in planning and conducting Verification & Validation activities.
• Knowledge of structured product development, change management, design reviews, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
