About the Role
We represent a financially strong industrial group preparing to establish a significant international trading presence in Singapore. This opportunity is for a high-level trader to create, develop, and lead the global commercial trading desk in anticipation of the commencement of a major regional production asset.
This role focuses solely on physical trading and requires an entrepreneurial mindset. Initially, you will spend 2 to 3 years building international supplier and customer networks from the ground up. As production volume grows, you will lead the expansion, recruitment, and management of the international trading team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an international physical trading strategy, managing entire transaction processes including arbitrage and contract negotiations.
- Focus on Polyethylene (PE) product lines and expand global market channels.
- Build sustainable sales networks and customer relationships before the asset commissioning, collaborating closely with regional shipping and logistics teams.
- Oversee daily transaction operations, including credit management, payment setups, and counterparty risk assessment.
- Design and grow the organizational framework for recruiting and mentoring a high-performing global trading team as operations scale.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in physical trading within the petrochemical, polymer, or plastic resin industries.
- Proven track record with an active commercial portfolio or established connections with major global regional converters, film extruders, and piping manufacturers.
- Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of independently establishing a trading desk from scratch.
