Position Overview
The Procurement & Inventory Control Coordinator plays a vital part in managing purchasing activities and inventory systems across multiple departments to support uninterrupted production. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and experience within regulated manufacturing environments to ensure compliance with Health Canada standards and internal procedures.
Key Duties
- Source and procure raw materials, packaging supplies, office and production materials, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, obtain quotes, create purchase orders, and resolve any supplier-related issues efficiently.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with approved vendors while evaluating their performance on quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor inventory levels accurately to optimize stock availability and avoid excess holdings.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and keep precise records using ERP or inventory management tools.
- Coordinate internal inventory movements and transfers to align with production demands and schedules.
- Ensure all procurement and inventory processes comply strictly with Health Canada Cannabis Regulations and company SOPs.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, regulatory inspections, and reporting purposes including month-end inventory reconciliation and variance analysis.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, Compliance, and Operations teams to support material requirements and improvement initiatives.
Candidate Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in procurement and/or inventory control roles, ideally within regulated industries such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, or food manufacturing.
- Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, production demand planning, and order management, with advanced skills in Excel, PowerBI, or similar data platforms to drive actionable insights creatively.
- Strong command of Microsoft 365 and capability to quickly adapt to new technology systems.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management software and knowledge of cannabis inventory tracking tools like Sortly is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for long periods, work in production and warehouse areas, and use required personal protective equipment.
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related fields; supply chain designations such as SCMP or PMAC are advantageous.
