About the Company

Conti Federal Services is an international construction and engineering firm with a long history of delivering highly complex work for the U.S. federal government. The company has been operating for more than 115 years and focuses on disaster preparedness and recovery, secure and classified construction, critical infrastructure, and environmental remediation. It emphasizes safety, integrity, and compliance in all work.

With teams across the world, Conti Federal describes itself as a diverse, energetic organization that values initiative, supports career growth, and promotes from within. The environment is designed for people who want a challenging role with room to learn and advance.

Role Overview

The Project Engineer partners with the project team and field leadership to help deliver work safely, with strong quality standards, and within or below the estimated budget. The role also supports margin improvement, client relationship management, subcontractor coordination, submittals, buyout activities, and cost estimating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and procedures, and escalate any unsafe behavior or non-compliance by employees, subcontractors, or vendors.
  • Support quality staff and project execution through the Quality Management System.
  • Work with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager to develop construction methods that improve safety, cost control, equipment use, schedule performance, and client communication.
  • Review foremen’s reports every day to ensure records are correct before income, cost, or inventory entries are made.
  • Track material usage and adjust operations to reduce waste.
  • Help with the buyout process, prepare requisitions, and share needed information with the project team.
  • Perform daily site walks to stay current on progress and identify developing issues.
  • Assist in preparing the 12-month cash flow schedule.
  • Understand extra work billing requirements and update budgets to include owner change orders.
  • Manage subcontractors and hold them accountable to contract obligations; attend coordination meetings to review schedules, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare, track, and manage submittals, shop drawings, and material certifications so approvals are received before work begins.
  • Contribute to the Four Week Look Ahead schedule using logic that reflects resources, submittals, approvals, lead times, constraints, and milestones.
  • Take part in daily huddles to support efficient, profitable project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and their representatives or inspectors.
  • Support recruiting and interview activities.
  • Assist business development efforts that promote the company’s brand and services.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • EU citizenship is mandatory.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred, along with at least 3 years of experience; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Prior exposure to project start-up meetings, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, owner estimates, subcontractor/vendor requisitions, and cost-to-complete work is required.
  • Strong leadership ability is expected.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A proactive, business-minded approach is important.
  • Applicants should have strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, P3 Primavera, HCSS, JD Edwards, and Expedition is needed.
  • Familiarity with estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems, and site surveying is required.
  • The role requires the ability to move around the jobsite in all weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and stretching.
  • The role also requires lifting up to 50 pounds.
