Role Overview
The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning and coordinating the execution of projects related to Pipeline and Process Services. Key activities include managing pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance, and shutdown tasks, while ensuring adherence to safety, timing, technical quality, and contractual specifications.
Primary Duties
- Analyze project documents such as specifications, drawings, P&IDs, test packs, and client requirements.
- Develop method statements, risk assessments, execution plans, equipment lists, and other technical documentation.
- Carry out basic engineering computations involving pipeline volume, pressure, flow rates, filling, flushing, and drying processes.
- Select appropriate equipment including pumps, compressors, filtration units, dryers, nitrogen gear, hoses, manifolds, and temporary piping.
- Manage coordination of manpower, machinery, materials, permits, mobilization, and ensure readiness at the worksite.
- Support various procedures including hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, flushing, air blowing, dewatering, drying, nitrogen purging, chemical cleaning, and pipeline pre-commissioning.
- Provide technical assistance to site teams and troubleshoot operational challenges.
- Track project progress, resource usage, equipment efficiency, and costs.
- Serve as liaison among clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including test reports, calibration certificates, daily logs, and completion dossiers.
- Flag scope changes and aid in preparing variation claims and recovery documentation.
- Uphold quality, health, safety, and environmental standards along with client requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Process, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in Pipeline and Process Services with expertise in pre-commissioning, commissioning, oil and gas, or industrial project environments.
- Practical involvement with hydrotesting, flushing, air blowing, dewatering, drying, nitrogen services, or chemical cleaning.
- Competence in interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, technical specs, and test packs.
- Knowledge of pumps, compressors, temporary piping, valves, hoses, filtration, drying, and testing devices.
- Ability to prepare detailed method statements, engineering calculations, risk assessments, and project reports.
- Strong organizational skills including planning, coordination, problem solving, and clear communication.
- Experience working within UAE or GCC and possession of a valid UAE driving license is advantageous.
