Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Quality Manager to lead quality assurance, quality control, and compliance efforts on the Auckland Airport automated material handling project. This role is critical in ensuring all project activities—from installation through commissioning and handover—meet specified quality standards. Additionally, the role involves oversight of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics supporting the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Project Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control throughout the project lifecycle including installation inspections.
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), audits, and project reviews.
  • Monitor quality performance and prepare reports for stakeholders.
  • Assist with customer acceptance activities and documentation for project handover.
  • Conduct Level 6 (L6) inspections and address quality findings.
  • Facilitate supplier quality activities and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage and compliance with specifications.
  • Support First Article Inspections and review supplier quality documentation to maintain traceability.
  • Manage warehouse and materials control, ensuring stock integrity and traceability within the Warehouse Management System.
  • Coordinate logistical flows including receiving, storage, staging, and dispatch aligned with installation and commissioning schedules.
  • Promote a robust safety culture ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including project-specific airport requirements.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced project environment and can effectively collaborate with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in quality assurance, management, control, or quality engineering roles.
  • Background in engineering, construction, manufacturing, automation, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
  • Proven skills in NCR management, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and quality plan development.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and independent working abilities.
  • Experience with airport projects, baggage handling systems, logistics automation, or major infrastructure is advantageous.
  • Supplier quality management, auditing, installation/commissioning experience, ISO 9001 knowledge, and auditor certifications are desirable.
  • Warehouse, inventory, or material management experience within projects is a plus.
