Research & Development Engineer Intern

Position Summary

The R&D Engineering Intern will contribute to the creation of Vero’s advanced nitric oxide delivery system, including both the drug cassette and console components. This internship offers practical experience in engineering testing, data gathering, and product innovation within a medical device company governed by regulatory standards.

The intern will coordinate with R&D and various departments to carry out testing protocols, interpret data, and support design enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with constructing and adjusting prototypes, testing fixtures, and setups
• Support continuous testing cycles and iterative design enhancements
• Engage in design evaluations and collaborative group discussions
• Implement engineering test procedures in lab settings
• Set up and manage test apparatus and fixtures
• Systematically gather, organize, and document experimental data
• Diagnose issues in test setups and suggest improvements
• Examine data using analytical tools such as Python, MATLAB, and Excel
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing test findings
• Contribute to the advancement of testing methodologies and documentation practices
• Aid manufacturing process development and validation for the device’s cassette and console
• Help with facility and pilot production line setup during scale-up phases
• Assist with maintaining design control documentation compliant with ISO 13485 standards
• Gain insight into risk management and regulated product development techniques

Candidate Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in biomedical, mechanical, chemical, or related engineering disciplines
• Keen interest in practical engineering tasks, product development, and testing activities
• Prior experience in lab work, prototype creation, or engineering projects via coursework or internships
