Role Overview
The Research Scientist role entails executing thorough qualitative and quantitative research into trends in college admissions, criteria for university selection, and factors impacting student success. This fully remote position involves designing research studies, gathering data, performing analyses, and producing actionable insights for internal teams and clients. Responsibilities include synthesizing complex data into accessible reports, briefs, and presentations to aid admissions strategies and program enhancement. Collaboration with consultants and leadership is key to refining services, ensuring evidence-based guidance, and contributing to thought leadership via publications and internal resources. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently while adhering to deadlines remotely.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in quantitative research: experimental design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation using tools like R, Python, or SPSS.
- Competence in qualitative research methods including literature reviews, interview framework design, thematic analysis, and synthesizing complex information.
- Relevant experience in educational research, social sciences, or related fields, ideally focused on college admissions, higher education, or student outcome studies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise with data visualization and reporting platforms such as Excel or Tableau to generate clear insights.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote setting.
- Master’s or PhD degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent research experience.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a commitment to ethical and unbiased research practices.
- Prior knowledge of college admissions processes and selective university standards is highly advantageous.
