Opportunity Overview
Join a high-achieving resource consents team in a leadership capacity where you will shape community development through expert planning guidance, stakeholder collaboration, and team mentorship.
Role Responsibilities
- Direct daily planning advisory services to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide mentorship, technical assistance, and leadership support to planning staff.
- Handle complex planning inquiries from various stakeholders including applicants and consultants.
- Organize and participate in pre-application consultations.
- Evaluate development proposals and offer expert planning advice.
- Manage processing of diverse land use and subdivision consents.
- Contribute to feedback on planning policies, plan revisions, and workflow improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, building officials, environmental experts, customer service teams, and external partners.
- Maintain compliance with statutory requirements and uphold service standards consistently.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Formal qualification in Planning, Resource Management, Surveying, or related field.
- At least five years of experience in resource consenting, statutory planning, or development assessment.
- Proven knowledge and application of the Resource Management Act and associated planning regulations.
- Experience in mentoring or providing informal leadership within planning roles.
- Strong abilities in stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management.
- Excellent skills in written communication and report preparation.
- Good judgement, meticulous attention to detail, and adeptness at managing multiple priorities.
- Possession of a current, unrestricted driver's license.
