Job description
Company Overview
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is at the forefront of innovation, developing advanced CPU compiler solutions that enhance developer capabilities and improve server efficiency. Our engineering group focuses on building open source compiler toolsets for Qualcomm silicon, covering compilers, assemblers, linkers, libraries, debuggers, profilers, and other essential developer tools. These tools empower both internal and external developers to create rich software ecosystems optimized for Qualcomm hardware.
Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated engineer to join our team, actively contributing to open source communities by extending and refining compiler and system software support tailored for Qualcomm platforms. The role centers on development for the RISC-V architecture, enhancing code generation, boosting performance, and improving both response times and programmer usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage predominantly with the LLVM community to implement new features and enhance performance on Qualcomm CPUs, focusing on RISC-V.
- Analyze workloads using benchmarking and code reviews to detect opportunities for LLVM improvements, benchmarking against other compilers and architectures.
- Partner with hardware teams to plan and integrate support for Qualcomm silicon features in various open source initiatives.
- Gather and incorporate user feedback to improve the usability of development tools.
- Investigate novel optimization frameworks to leverage advanced CPU features effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid experience with LLVM development, particularly in optimization and code generation.
- Proven involvement in open source community projects.
- Proficient in C and C++ programming.
Preferred Expertise
- A demonstrated history of contributions to LLVM projects.
- Familiarity with RISC-V or AArch64 architectures.
- Experience with compilers such as GCC and familiarity with related ecosystems including glibc, assemblers, linkers, loaders, and system libraries.
- Skill in configuring, building, and conducting server CPU benchmarks (e.g., SPECrate Integer, DCPerf), along with performance analysis and monitoring.
- Strong foundation in computer architecture.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus a minimum of 4 years relevant industry experience.
- OR Master's degree in the above fields plus at least 3 years of related professional experience.
- OR PhD with a minimum of 2 years of pertinent work experience.
