About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Caretaker to join the welcoming Site Team at St. Andrew's School, a vibrant independent school located in Rochester. The school, spread across four charming Victorian buildings, offers an engaging environment educating children from Pre-School through Year 6. This position extends beyond routine maintenance, playing a vital part in ensuring a safe, secure, and inviting setting for both pupils and staff daily.
Key Duties
- Perform scheduled and ad hoc maintenance tasks throughout the school premises.
- Maintain site safety, security, and readiness each day.
- Upkeep of grounds and outdoor areas to a high standard.
- Drive the school minibus during educational outings and activities as needed.
- Assist with practical aspects of school events and daily functions.
- Manage maintenance emergencies calmly and efficiently when they arise.
Candidate Profile
- Practical and hands-on, with pride in delivering quality standards.
- Prior experience in caretaking, property maintenance, or a related field.
- Organised, dependable, and capable of managing varied workloads effectively.
- Good understanding of health & safety, compliance, and safeguarding essentials.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a close team.
- Strong communication skills with a helpful nature.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence; willingness to obtain a D1 licence (training available).

Additional Information
Salary for this position can reach up to £27,876 annually based on a 35-hour work week. The closing date for applications is 31 August 2026; however, applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the role is filled, with early applications encouraged.
