Senior Data Analyst

Overview

The Senior Data Analyst role at MECCA Brands is a 12-month fixed term contract based in Richmond, Victoria. This key position acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, analytics, and data engineering teams. The main focus is to provide thorough analysis, scalable reports, and structured data models that empower data-driven decisions throughout the company.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead complex data analyses to generate actionable business insights supporting strategic decision-making.
• Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reporting aligned with business metrics and quality standards.
• Create and manage data models using DBT and collaborate with Data Engineering on optimizing Snowflake data pipelines and structures.
• Translate business needs into clear, robust analytical and technical requirements while balancing stakeholder priorities.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality via thorough testing, validation, and employing sound data modelling approaches.
• Champion continuous enhancements in analytics, reporting processes, exploring advanced analytics and opportunities in AI.
• Coach junior analysts, advocate best practices in analysis, visualization, and team collaboration.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in advanced SQL and data manipulation techniques.
• Experience working with Snowflake is preferred; candidates with Redshift, DataBricks, or similar platforms will also be considered.
• Proficiency in building scalable dashboards using Tableau.
• Familiarity with DBT and modern ELT methodologies.
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and semantic layer design.
• Ability to effectively communicate and translate requirements between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to maintaining data integrity.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• A proactive, results-driven attitude combined with commercial awareness.
