Overview
This role involves the handling and transportation of freight within and between FedEx Canada facilities. The shuttle driver is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, and scanning packages, as well as ensuring the safe and secure handling of property and compliance with local regulations.
Key Duties
- Operate non-articulated vehicles to move freight between company locations.
- Load and unload company vehicles and containers carefully.
- Inspect package size and weight for accuracy.
- Separate shipments according to their service type and destination following company procedures.
- Use computerized tracking systems to scan packages efficiently.
- Maintain safety standards in all package handling processes.
- Secure Federal Express Canada and customer properties including equipment, packages, and vehicles.
- Clean, wash, and perform minor maintenance on vehicles as needed.
- Adhere to regulations set by local airport authorities.
- Operate equipment while complying with government rules and company policies.
- Occasionally perform emergency pick-ups and deliveries, not exceeding 10% of work time.
- Complete other related tasks as assigned.
Special Conditions
For Quebec-based roles, bilingualism in French and English is mandatory.
Where temperature control functions are necessary, drivers must troubleshoot and follow regulations related to air and carrier temperature control units and maintain cargo area temperature appropriately during deliveries.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Complete all initial and recurrent training successfully.
- Hold a valid, unrestricted Class 5/Class G driving license with a clean driving record.
- Some knowledge of FedEx Express Canada operations and Canadian customs regulations is advantageous.
- Physically capable of lifting 70 lbs and handling packages up to 150 lbs with equipment or assistance.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills.

Candidates with more than two driving violations or accidents within the past 24 months are less likely to be considered.
