Role overview
Uber Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer in San Francisco, California for a full-time role focused on delivery ads systems. This position is for building backend infrastructure that supports large-scale ad-serving and related data processing, with the option to telecommute. Unless a fully remote arrangement is approved, employees are expected to work from the office at least half of the time; some roles may require full-time on-site presence.
Compensation and benefits
The annual pay range for this position is $171,000 to $209,000. In addition to base pay, the role may be eligible for Uber's bonus program, and other forms of compensation such as equity may also be available. The position includes access to a range of employee benefits.
What you'll do
- Create and improve highly scalable, high-performance systems that power ad delivery for Uber's delivery ads products.
- Design backend services and distributed platforms capable of processing millions of ad requests every second.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Machine Learning teams to launch new advertising formats.
- Use streaming and batch tools such as Kafka, Flink, and Spark to handle and analyze ad performance data.
- Strengthen reliability, security, and scalability while following sound engineering practices.
What we're looking for
Uber will consider candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related discipline, along with 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related role. The role calls for strong experience with backend architecture, distributed or microservice-based systems, SQL or MySQL, software development lifecycle practices, debugging production systems, and applying data structures and algorithms. Experience in C++, Java, Python, or Go is also required, along with the ability to design technology stacks and monitor live services.
