Role Overview
The Terminal Supervisor plays a critical leadership role within Sydney Airport’s front-line operations, overseeing activities that ensure a safe, secure, and seamless experience for millions of passengers annually. This position is a 12-month maximum term contract with potential extension, involving management of terminal and landside operations, stakeholder engagement, and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational responses across terminal and landside areas to maintain safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Provide authoritative leadership to on-ground teams and service providers during daily operations and emergency incidents.
- Promote and uphold superior customer service by encouraging professionalism, responsiveness, and care.
- Make prompt and informed decisions under pressure, including during medical, security, or emergency events, and escalate issues to senior management when needed.
- Monitor terminal presentation, passenger flow, and service quality through active engagement and addressing issues proactively.
- Manage relationships with internal units, government bodies, and third-party service providers to ensure coordinated operations.
- Support emergency management execution, security compliance, and operational continuity during planned or unplanned disruptions.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced operational leader adept at working in high-stress, complex settings, preferably in aviation, transportation, or major infrastructure sectors.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and effective collaboration with multiple agencies.
- Committed to maintaining safety, security, and service standards in fast-moving environments.
- Flexible to work rotating shifts and assume operational decision-making responsibilities at all hours.
- Minimum educational qualification: Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
- Desirable certification includes current First Response Medical or First Aid training.
- Eligibility to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and Airside Driver Authority (ADA Cat 2) is required.
