Water Distribution & Supply Engineer

Overview

The Water Distribution & Supply Engineer will support the Section Head in overseeing the creation, updating, and maintenance of regulations, operational codes, and standards within the water sector. This role encompasses reviewing planning documents, performance reports, and managing compliance with regulatory frameworks related to water supply and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the water distribution companies' five-year planning statements to ensure strategic alignment.
• Analyze annual water loss reports submitted by distribution companies to monitor efficiency.
• Assess annual performance reports from distribution companies to verify compliance and effectiveness.
• Ensure adherence to Water Supply Regulations and associated guidance documentation.
• Guarantee compliance with Water Tankering Regulations and relevant guidance materials.
• Handle audits related to water supply and coordinate follow-ups to ensure resolution of issues.
• Manage the oversight of Water Metering and Distribution codes, including the development and enforcement of other relevant codes and licensing requirements.
• Provide expert input into the formulation and revision of technical standards, regulations, and measures in the water sector.
• Develop and implement methodology frameworks for assessing regulatory submissions for compliance verification.
• Respond to all water supply-related incidents and coordinate appropriate remedial action.
• Create and monitor key performance indicators to track sector progress.
• Collaborate with the economics team on price control, technical assessments, and capital expenditure reviews.
• Stay informed on the latest developments in water transmission and distribution systems and contribute insights to address overall water network challenges.
• Support health, safety, and environmental concerns related to licensees in partnership with designated HSE personnel.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Department of Energy.

Education and Experience

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Have at least five years of combined operational and design experience within the water sector.
