Role overview
This hourly cleaner position is based in Toccoa within the Maintenance department and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The role supports housekeeping and upkeep activities across the plant, with an emphasis on keeping work areas clean, safe, and orderly during the first shift.
Key duties
- Carry out routine housekeeping using sound cleaning practices.
- Operate the floor sweeper every day as part of the regular schedule.
- Support the maintenance team with cleaning activities tied to the preventive maintenance program.
- Complete additional assignments given by the supervisor or another plant leader.
- Demonstrate strong attendance and reliability in day-to-day work.
Required qualifications
- Ability to work on your own, manage time effectively, and adapt to changes in the daily routine.
- Willingness to perform physical work that involves frequent bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
- Safe handling of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: high school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: 1-3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Preferred: familiarity with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Skills and abilities
The position calls for the ability to understand common business documents, communicate with coworkers and customers, use basic math for inventory and job verification tasks, and evaluate routine problems to reach practical conclusions. The work also requires standing, walking, crouching, using stairs to reach the work area, and handling physical demands throughout the shift.
Working conditions
This is an indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels. Hearing protection is needed, and safety glasses, gloves, and other protective gear are required. Overtime may be required based on production needs and the company overtime policy.
