Job Overview

Based in the Abu Dhabi Emirate, the Accountant role at SAKA Group requires managing accounting functions in a dynamic environment that integrates traditional bookkeeping with cost management throughout the project lifecycle. The role is critical due to the complexity of subcontracts, procurement of raw materials, and billing for utility infrastructure projects, necessitating strong commercial insight combined with technical accounting expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor active project costs including expenses, variation orders, and delivery of materials, updating comprehensive Work in Progress (WIP) reports for multiple projects to safeguard project profitability.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor transactions by reviewing payment certificates, overseeing accounts payable cycles, validating invoices against purchase orders, and ensuring prompt payments aligned with contractual terms.
  • Handle general ledger duties and cash flow management including monthly bank reconciliations, precise ledger entries, management of multi-currency expenses, and supervising cash flow across various subsidiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE tax regulations by preparing and filing quarterly VAT returns and supporting accurate financial records for corporate audits, also adhering to new UAE corporate tax laws.
  • Administer payroll processes for staff and labor, ensuring adherence to UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) guidelines via the Wages Protection System.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce is required; professional credentials such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA are strongly preferred.
  • Must have 4 to 8 years of accounting experience in the UAE, specifically within the construction, contracting, MEP, or interior fit-out sectors.
  • Technical expertise including comprehensive knowledge of IFRS standards, especially IFRS 15 relating to revenue recognition in construction contracts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables) and familiarity with enterprise accounting or ERP systems.
  • Practical experience with UAE VAT legislation, the WPS payroll system, and local banking platforms.
