Position Overview
An expanding company in the oil and gas sector located in Midland seeks an Accounts Payable Clerk to enhance their accounting department. This position involves handling vendor invoice processing, overseeing payment processing cycles, performing account reconciliations, and providing support for daily accounting tasks within a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently process a large volume of vendor invoices with accuracy and timeliness.
- Inspect invoices to verify correct coding, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure completeness of supporting documents.
- Match invoices against purchase orders and receiving documents to confirm accuracy.
- Execute weekly payments including check runs, ACH transactions, and wire transfers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies found.
- Maintain up-to-date vendor records and aid with onboarding new vendors.
- Handle vendor inquiries regarding the status of payments promptly.
- Assist during month-end closing processes and perform account reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of 1099 forms and contribute to year-end financial reporting.
- Adhere to company policies and uphold internal control standards.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience in accounts payable functions.
- Prior industry experience in oil and gas, energy, or similar sectors is advantageous.
- Comprehensive knowledge of invoice processing procedures and account reconciliation methods.
- Proficiency working with ERP software systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- High school diploma is mandatory; an associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred.
