Job Purpose

• Develop CAM programs suited for HMC, VMC, WEDM, EDM, and CNC turning machines.
• Create 3D models as required to support manufacturing.
• Assist manufacturing operations by ensuring timely availability of CNC programs for machine operation.
• Optimize CNC processes by implementing strategies that save time and extend tool life, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.
• Drive innovation in CNC programming methods and promote continuous improvement.
• Maximize manufacturing resources usage and achieve targeted productivity and delivery goals.
• Maintain integrity and security of CNC program data to prevent loss or piracy.
• Protect confidentiality of CAM services operations.

Job Context & Major Challenges

The role is pivotal within the die design and manufacturing unit, focusing on standardizing procedures and enabling technology transfer to various plants, helping them realize potential and master die design principles. Continuous enhancement in product and process engineering using CAD and simulation is essential to add value across die design, fabrication, and repair of dies for high-quality extruded products. Introducing innovative technologies at the plant to boost team efficiency and productivity is a crucial expectation. Major challenges involve creating effective CNC programs for multiple machines promptly, deep understanding of cutting tools, innovating programming to simultaneously reduce manufacturing time and extend tool life, minimizing die manufacturing costs, reducing overall die development cycle time, multi-skilling machine operators, identifying digital technology projects to enhance machine availability and die quality, and fostering continuous improvement through research and training to maintain expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D and 3D CNC programs to support die designs aligned with market requirements.
• Monitor and manage tool life to ensure efficient usage.
• Support die design activities by providing machining capabilities information for optimal design decisions.
• Ensure safe work practices by enforcing use of PPE, guiding workers on safety protocols, and maintaining safe conditions in the die shop.
• Generate solid die models with iterative refinements to optimize metal flow and accommodate manufacturing constraints, reducing manufacturing time.
• Assimilate new technologies from partners and implement leading industry practices ensuring key agreements are fulfilled and relationships managed effectively.
• Ensure timely delivery of CNC programs to meet production schedules.
• Manufacture dies with best CNC solutions, aiming to minimize development time, utilize tools efficiently, control costs, and eliminate waste in operations.
• Drive cost reduction by enhancing CNC department productivity, defining optimal recipes for special steel, communicating design improvements, eliminating manufacturing errors, and leveraging digital analytics for KPI improvement.
• Foster people development through teamwork, healthy culture, multi-skilling, and on-the-job training to enhance employee capability in the die shop.
• Develop and implement standardized operating procedures to minimize costs and improve consistency.
• Lead digitalization initiatives including project management, assisting in procurement of machinery and software, and supporting MES and ERP development for the die shop.
