Position Overview
The Anatomic Pathology Assistant plays a critical supporting role within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department. Tasks include accessioning specimens, conducting gross specimen descriptions, photographic documentation, and performing autopsies under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pathology professionals and staff in daily operations.
- Ensure the highest quality and integrity of specimens processed.
- Perform autopsies adhering to departmental protocols.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance pathology services.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail and consistent execution of assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in chemical or biological sciences.
- Minimum of five years of experience within anatomic pathology.
- Certification from ASCP BOR.
- Thorough understanding of human anatomy, specimen filing systems, and proficiency with computer applications.
