Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking an Apprentice Electrician to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. This position involves on-site work with diverse responsibilities in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance, primarily in commercial, institutional, and residential settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and repair electrical panel boxes and controls.
- Handle underground wiring and cable installation.
- Perform splicing, joining, and connection of wires.
- Test and measure circuit voltages, loads, and ground fault integrity.
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings.
- Conduct troubleshooting and isolate electrical faults.
- Estimate required materials and project costs.
- Renovate electrical systems within various buildings.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation.
- Handle preventive maintenance programs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of other trade certificates or diplomas.
- Experience ranging from one year up to less than two years in electrical or related trades.
- Possession of Working at Heights training, WHMIS certificate, and Fall Arrest Protection training.
- Proficiency with hand tools and knowledge of lighting systems.
- Valid driver's license, own transportation, and willingness to travel as required.
Work Environment
- Work performed outdoors and across various locations including construction sites, service, maintenance, commercial, institutional, and hospital settings.
- Fast-paced and physically demanding environment involving handling heavy loads and tight deadlines.
- On-site work only; remote work is not an option.
- Use of personal safety gear including steel-toed boots, hard hat, and appropriate tools.
