Position Overview

This opportunity is based at The Goddard School location in Birnham Woods, Spring, TX 77386. Candidates should confirm this location works for them prior to applying. The Area Curriculum Director role involves oversight and management of program and curriculum across several sites, with possible additional business duties assigned by the franchisee. This is a salaried role, with compensation aligned to the applicant’s educational background and experience.

General and Educational Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy both state-specific and national hiring standards, such as:

  • Capability to hear conversational speech with or without hearing aids
  • Vision sufficient to see and interpret newsprint, with or without glasses
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood under normal conditions
  • Physical ability to use limbs and evacuate during emergencies
  • Proficiency to manage crises, especially involving children
  • Prompt response capability to emergency events
  • Prior leadership experience within licensed childcare or school settings is required

Educational prerequisites include meeting at least one of the following, alongside any state or local licensing mandates:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development plus management experience in licensed childcare or preschool
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related fields including 18 semester hours with 12 in early childhood birth to age 8, plus management experience
  • Associate’s degree or above in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or related field plus 1 year of experience (1560 hours) in childcare and 1 year management experience
  • Associate’s or higher in related field with 18 relevant semester hours, 2 years experience (3120 hours), and 1 year management experience
  • Current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential alongside 12 semester hours/CEUs and 2 years experience plus 1 year management experience

Key Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Plan and organize administrative functions including record-keeping to meet state and company standards
  • Manage classroom scheduling and faculty rosters
  • Conduct periodic reporting and review employee policies annually
  • Implement and oversee health programs and emergency drills
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements
  • Manage inventories including snacks and supplies
  • Contribute to staff communications and professional growth initiatives

Fiscal

  • Operate within established budgets including payroll and petty cash management
  • Oversee maintenance arrangements and equipment/supply purchases
  • Manage registration and snack budgets

Licensing

  • Foster positive relations with licensing bodies and maintain all licensing documentation
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to licensing regulations

Personnel

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and manage faculty
  • Conduct orientations, performance reviews, and regular meetings for staff
  • Maintain faculty records and maintain substitute teacher rosters
  • Organize required staff trainings including first aid and emergency preparedness

Program and Curriculum Development

  • Conduct monthly classroom assessments and support curriculum development
  • Maintain resource libraries and implement professional development plans
  • Plan and coordinate year-round curriculum calendars and activities
  • Monitor lesson planning, daily reports, children’s portfolios, and classroom management
  • Implement health, safety, snack, transition, and playground programs
  • Hold tri-annual curriculum meetings

Sales and Marketing

  • Greet visitors and handle phone communications using set scripts
  • Conduct tours and follow up with prospects
  • Enroll families and facilitate orientation and ongoing communication
  • Develop community relationships and organize outreach programs
  • Oversee a student teaching program
